  • Graduate of accredited dentistry program and must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice dentistry in Virginia. Must adhere to guidelines of given primary care specialty for meeting re-certification requirements. Must meet annual primary care specialty continuing education medical education requirements (or those set forth by the ADA) and report to Human Resources. Must maintain DEA certification with reimbursement for these through ESRHS CME allowances. Provider must maintain updated copies of all of their licensures, certification and CME.
  • Planning, organizing and implementing dental programs and activities, supervising and assisting in training of dental staff, ability to work well in a leadership role with a cooperative effort with diverse groups of health professionals; ability to work independently and to make appropriate decisions which reflect professional strength, confidence and integrity. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stopping all day. This employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 30 pounds. 

The Population Served:
The center will provide patient centered primary care of the highest quality to residents, migrants and seasonal farmworkers, as well as visitors of the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Essential Functions
  • Provides comprehensive, preventive and restorative dental services for children, and adults including exams, x-rays, sealants, prophylaxis and scaling, oral surgery, amalgam and composite restorations, endodontics, crowns, bridges, partial dentures and complete dentures.
  • Provides emergency dental services to all life cycles including prescriptions for infection and pain, extractions and restorations.
  • Works with Chief Dental Officer, School Health Officials, health department personnel, local health professionals, school nurses and head start programs for community dental program planning and evaluation.
  • Completes and reviews patient history, records oral conditions, propose treatment plan and treatment completed on approved patient charts.
